An authentic and characterful women’s satchel, handcrafted in Tuscany by Chiarugi Firenze. It belongs to the Old Tuscany line, a collection inspired by traditional Florentine school and document bags, distinguished by an intentionally rustic, vintage, and time-worn appearance.

The rectangular silhouette, two front leather straps with decorative buckles, and antique-brass-tone hardware recall the traditional leather bags of another era. A special finishing process gives the leather an intentionally aged appearance, with irregular shading, lighter and darker areas, and small surface marks that make every bag unique.

IMPORTANT: THE LEATHER IS VEGETABLE TANNED AND IS NOT COVERED WITH SYNTHETIC FILMS, OPAQUE PAINTS, OR FINISHES DESIGNED TO CREATE A UNIFORM SURFACE. COLOR VARIATIONS, IRREGULAR SHADING, SURFACE MARKS, AND THE AGED EFFECT ARE INTENTIONAL FEATURES OF THE OLD TUSCANY LINE. THE BAG IS NOT DEFECTIVE.

Vegetable-tanned Tuscan leather

The bag is crafted from genuine Tuscan vegetable-tanned leather, following the region’s traditional artisanal methods. Natural tannins extracted from bark and plants are used during the tanning process, giving the leather deep tones and a warm, natural appearance.

The surface is not concealed beneath synthetic coatings or opaque finishes. The authentic grain, natural variations in color, and original characteristics of the hide therefore remain visible. With use, the leather will continue to evolve, developing an increasingly personal patina.
