Gilda Tonelli is an Italian leather-goods brand tied to Abruzzo’s manufacturing tradition. Its origins are traced back to a family workshop active as early as the 1920s, and in several accounts the story is often told as beginning in 1921. By the late 1970s, the artisan reality took an important step forward: the business became more structured and evolved into a more organized manufacturing company, while keeping a strong focus on leathers, stitching, and finishing.

A frequently cited episode that became symbolic of the brand’s identity is the 2002 project, when Gilda Tonelli was credited with creating the world’s largest bag, mentioned as included in the Guinness World Records: a spectacular genuine-leather piece with a crocodile-style finish, made with the same care reserved for production models.
