Vintage-style bags and accessories - retro style doctor bags
The doctor's bag was born as an improved version of the famous "Carpet bag" (or "sac de voyage" in French) in the second half of the 19th century. The first travel bags were made of carpet fabrics. But, manufacturers in the 1800s gradually began to use leather, which was a more resistant material and made the bag last longer. Rich people and businessmen (doctors, lawyers) thus also began to use leather travel bags: this was an object for carrying not only personal effects, but also money. For greater safety, the travel bags were therefore equipped with mini-padlocks. Today these vintage-style bags, due to their practicality and capacity, as well as a noble look, continue to be used by high-level doctors. So the bag got its name "doctor's bag".
