Vintage styled men's backpack. The model of the backpack is reminiscent of the early 20th century retro Satchel.

This backpack is handmade by Italian artisans, of genuine Tuscan vegetable tanned leather with an aged effect.

How is vegetable tanning done? It is an ancient technique that dates back to the period of ancient Rome and developed in the lands of medieval Tuscany. The leather is placed in a barrel with water with natural dyes from plants and trees which are called tannins. The barrels are in rotation and shaking for about 48 hours. This technique allows to obtain a softer and more flexible leather.

The natural tanned leather has irregularities and roughness, the surface has darker tones in some areas, and lighter in others. This is not a defect, but the characteristic of real leather, tanned according to medieval Tuscan traditions.

This backpack has a warm brown color with a touch of Made in Italy vintage charm.

External measurements: 32cm bottom length, 35cm top length, 37cm height, 13cm depth.

Closure: The top is fastened with 2 buttons, then is folded over and fixed with a strap with metal clip closure.

Front: vertical pocket with zip

Back: vertical zip pocket.

Inside: lining with  Tartan pattern; pocket for tablet / mini laptop, zip pocket, 2 open pockets.

Handle: single.

Adjustable shoulder straps.

Metal accessories: in old burnished brass.

Designer and manufacturer: Tuscan leather goods brand Chiarugi. The Chiarugi family factory was founded in 1969 in Tuscany. The company has specialized in the production of classic style leather goods, using the ancient traditional leather working techniques.
