In the Spring/Summer 2015 season, the fashion brand Gilda Tonelli introduced several artistic-inspired lines of bags and footwear. One collection draws on French Impressionism from the late 19th and early 20th centuries; another takes inspiration from the pictorial world of Jackson Pollock, one of the most influential figures in 20th-century American art.

Pollock is regarded as a leading voice of Abstract Expressionism, especially action painting. From 1947 onward, he developed a bold, personal language: the so-called dripping technique, in which paint is poured, dripped, or splashed onto the surface to create interwoven marks, rhythm, and movement. Today his works are among the most sought-after in international collecting: No. 5, 1948 is also famous for being involved in one of the highest-priced sales ever recorded.
